Airport expressway tunnel collapse kills 2, injures 2 in Chongqing

Two people were killed and two others injured when a tunnel under renovation collapsed on Friday afternoon on the airport expressway in the southwestern Chongqing Municipality.

The accident occurred at 3 p.m. Friday at the expressway linking the city's downtown areas to the suburban Jiangbei Airport. The injured have been sent to hospital and the tunnel was closed off for investigation, the municipal public security department said.

The local police have not yet found out the victims' identity or the exact number of people in the tunnel when the tragedy happened, according to the department.
