Twenty-two miners were killed and 60 others were missing after a gas
explosion ripped through a coal mine in Fukang, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur
Autonomous Region Monday.
Five miners were rescued, according to a Xinhua report.

Eighty-seven miners were working undergound when the accident occured at 2:30
in the morning, the State Administration of Work Safety said on its website.
Local leaders have rushed to the mine to organize rescue work. And rescue
operation is underway.
