Dustbin blast hits Beijing railway station (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-07-10 16:17 An explosion within a dustbin at the west square
of Beijing railway station occurred suddenly at 1:40 p.m. Friday, but caused no
casualty, according to sources with the Beijing municipal public security bureau
Saturday.
A witness, who is a beverage salesman, said that the explosion occurred
within the dustbin beside a flower terrace, where many passengers took rest.
The moment the "bang" sound from the dustbin out, passengers ran away with
fears.
The cover of the dustbin was lifted by the explosion force, and the waste was
sprinkled outside. Smell of combusted waste floated in the air.
Police found a clock and a lead at the explosion site. Passengers were not
affected and the station order was as normal as usual.
Further investigation is under way.
