Shandong Luneng snapped a three match winless run in the China Super League on Wednesday, defeating Sichuan Guancheng 2-0 to get their league campaign back on track.

The China FA Cup holders were looking to recover from a 4-0 thrashing at Beijing Hyundai last weekend and they enjoyed the perfect start as Romanian striker Ionel Danciulescu opened the scoring in the very first minute.

Young striker Han Peng then sealed the win for Shandong six minutes from the end to keep the AFC Champions League quarter-finalists in sixth place, eight points adrift of leaders Dalian Shide.

China’s other AFC Champions League representatives, China Super League champions Shenzhen Jianlibao, failed to pick up a win although they can be reasonably satisfied after coming from behind to hold Shanghai Shenhua to a 1-1 draw.

Shenhua could have moved up to second place with a win and they went ahead after 41 minutes through Xie Hui. However, Togo striker Djima Oyawole leveled the score on 62 minutes to salvage a point for Shenzhen, who still find themselves near the foot of the standings.

Dalian have opened up a four-point lead in the standings after a 2-1 win over Qingdao Zhongheng. Bulgarian striker Zoran Petrovic netted the opener with his eighth goal of the season after 23 minutes but the visitors got back on level terms in the 35th minute through midfielder Lv Gang.

However, Qingdao defender Qin Sheng scored an own goal early in the second half to keep the seven-time China league champions on course for the title.

Beijing Hyundai failed to keep pace with the leaders as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Tianjin Teda. Wu Wei’an and Lu Yan gave the home side a two-goal advantage at half time and although Branko Jelic netted his 13th goal of the season for Beijing early in the second half, it was not enough for the capital side to avoid their third defeat of the season.

Wuhan Huanghelou moved back into second place after trouncing last-placed Shenyang Jinde 3-0 while Chongqing Qiche finally picked up their first victory of the season with a 1-0 success against Liaoning.

Shanghai Zhongbang and Inter Shanghai meet for the first time in a local derby on Thursday.
