HK pop diva to sing
in Shenzhen | Following her grand performance
in Guangzhou in April, Hong Kong pop queen Joey Yung will kick off the second leg of her
mainland tour with a concert at Shenzhen's Bao'an Stadium on July 16.
At a press conference in Shenzhen on Tuesday, Yung told reporters
she attached great importance to making the show a success. To make sure
she gets good audio and visual effects, Yung will bring over a whole set
of facilities that were used for her Hong Kong concerts. "I'm going to move the Hong Kong Coliseum to
Bao'an," Yung told the press.
Yung denied recent rumors that she would sing mostly covers. "I will
only sing my own songs," she said.
Yung promised that her Shenzhen performance would be exciting and
eye-catching. "I'll do a lot of dances and sing songs with fast rhythms.
And at the beginning of the concert, I'll appear by riding a silver horse,
as I did in Guangzhou."
Kenny Kwan and the new Boy'z band, both from Yung's agency company
Emperor Entertainment Group, will sing at the concert as guest performers.
According to the organizers, Yung's concert has already found a ready
audience among local concertgoers. In just two days from July 1 to 2, over
1,000 tickets were sold. The next stop on Yung's tour would be in Foshan,
the organizers said.
Yung is widely recognized as one of the best female singers in Hong
Kong. In recent years, she has also been ever present in films and TV
plays. "I hope I can become a versatile person," said Yung. "I admire
all-around artists, for example Roman Law, Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui. My
dream is to become like them."
Yung also told the conference that she would release a new Cantonese
album July 28. This album will follow her musical style and contain some new elements,
including rock ‘n' roll and electronic music.
