Cimpean, who was at the club to meet his wife when her shift ended, said he did not see the men in the club and did not know they were professional basketball players.

According to Cimpean, the three were in a taxi outside the club when he and his wife were leaving. Cimpean said one of the men asked his wife to come to the cab and used profanities when she refused.

Cimpean said he told the men "That's my lady, please," and turned around to walk away just as one of the players left the cab and said "let's go teach him a lesson."

Payton, Cassell and Caffey, who were teammates on the Milwaukee Bucks at the time of the incident, could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted.

Cimpean's testimony will resume on Thursday, while another stripper who was allegedly assaulted outside the club is also expected to take the stand.
