Japan commits 9 mln US dollar aid in China (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-06-06 21:29 Chinese and Japanese
officials signed documents for two aid projects Monday offering 9.5 million US
dollars to help the Chinese government train officials and protect the
environment.
The projects are the Human Resource Development Scholarship andthe
Afforestation for Conservation of Middle Stream of the Yellow River (Phase II)
which involves about 6.14 million US dollars and approximately 3.35 million US
dollars.
The fund will be used to pay fees for Chinese officials studying in Japan and
to purchase labor and machinery for planting trees in northern China's Shanxi
Province.
Japan has offered 1.25 billion US dollars worth of aid to Chinasince 1981,
according to the Ministry of Commerce.
