Bayer Munich won German Cup
Bayern Munich completed its fifth double when Hasan Salihamidzic came off the bench to score the deciding goal in a 2-1 win over Schalke in the German Cup final.
Bayern, which had lost to Schalke twice in the league, dominated the first half despite missing a penalty. Salihamidzic, however, scored the winner in the 76th minute on a play where Bayern appeared to be offside. Roy Makaay also scored for Bayern, putting in his own rebound in the 42nd minute, while Lincoln tied the game with a penalty in the 45th. Bayern, which has won 18 Bundesliga titles, claimed its 12th cup title. On a warm night, the players got some unexpected refreshment when the sprinkler system at the stadium that will host next year's World Cup final went off suddenly. The match was interrupted briefly while the water was turned off.
