Lien Chan arrives in Beijing

KMT Chairman Lien Chan and wife Lien Fang-yu visit the Forbidden City in downtown Beijing April 28, 2005. Lien is expected to meet with Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Friday. Beijing is the second leg on Lien's mainland visit itinerary, next to Nanjing,and followed by Xi'an and Shanghai. This is the first time that the KMT chairman has set feet on the mainland since 1949.
