Henan Province lures HK investment (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-04-10 09:02
Li Chengyu, governor of Central China's Henan Province, said his province has
listed Hong Kong as top investment sourcing place.
Henan, with a population of over 90 million, is China's largest province in
terms of population.
Li said his province has speeded up the formulation of various measures for
promoting economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Henan and Hong
Kong.
He made the remarks at the "Henan -- Hong Kong Trade Fair" held Friday.
Li said Henan expected to lure investment and invite talents from Hong Kong's
service sector, in an effort to push ahead with the restructuring of Henan's
service sector.
Henan also announced detailed plans for cooperation in the service, finance
and logistic sectors.
Hong Kong has been Henan's top direct overseas investment sourcing place. So
far, the province has registered 3,836 Hong Kong funded ventures, accounting for
48 percent of the province's total overseas funded ventures. The Hong Kong
funded ventures have introduced US$7.15 billion of contracted overseas
investment.
Henan also has five listed ventures in Hong Kong.
Li Chnegyu said he believed that the implementation of the Chinese
mainland/Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) will further
help promote cooperation between Henan and Hong Kong.
