Camilla will be Princess of Wales (Agencies) Updated: 2005-04-03 14:39
There is nothing in law to stop Camilla Parker Bowles from calling herself
the Princess of Wales after her marriage to Prince Charles on Friday, the
Government will confirm tomorrow.
Camilla Parker
Bowles arrives at Westminster Abbey in London, in this March 2, 2005 file
photo to attend a service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Sir
Angus Ogilvy, husband of Britain's Princess Alexandra. Camilla Parker
Bowles can become queen after all, despite earlier statements by Prince
Charles that she will take a lesser title after marrying him, the
government said Monday March 21, 2005.

By law, she would be entitled to adopt any of her husband's long list of
titles, and an Act of Parliament would be needed to prevent her, the
Constitutional Affairs Minister Christopher Leslie will tell MPs.
The Prince's advisers have said that she will be known as the Princess
Consort.
They have also said that she will not be called the Princess of Wales, to
avoid offending friends and admirers of the late Princess Diana.
"She will be the Princess of Wales, but she will not be using the title," a
spokeswoman for the Constitutional Affairs department said.
