Little girls were recently seen selling condoms on Nanjing streets, www.hnol.net reports. Couples walking past were stopped by the girls, who appeared to be about 10 years old, and were asked if they needed the condoms. When asked, the girls showed a total ignorance of what condoms are and said they were all hired to do the sales job. **Virtual memorial for heroes In the lightning fast modern lives of Guangzhou citizens, time is tight - but this does not mean tradition should be ignored. To make commemorating heroes buried in Huanghuagang Park during the Tomb-sweeping Festival more convenient, the park launched a website on Tuesday. By clicking on to www.72martyrs.com.cn, residents can leave messages and dedicate digital flowers such as roses, carnations and chrysanthemums, the Nanfang Daily reports. Local residents welcomed the online service, saying it is as good as holding a memorial ceremony in the park itself. **Face-changing clerk cannot run with public funds A man who last year stole 2.13 million yuan (US$257,000) of public funds before going on the run with his mistress, underwent plastic surgery in his attempts to evade police. Zhang Xin, an accountant from Anqing Construction Bureau, Gansu Province, stole the money over a nine-month period before disappearing with his lover, Jin Xiaoyuan, last September. To better disguise himself, Zhang had several complicated operations to alter his appearance. On the run for six months, the couple travelled through several provinces as they tried to keep one step ahead of the police. However, a new face was not enough, and the pair have since been caught and sent to prison, according to www.chinawtnews.net. **Mice must be careful when eating detergent Detergent apparently impairs male reproductive ability, according to a research study completed by three students at the Shiyi Middle School in Beijing. The group undertook a science experiment in which they spread detergent on the skin of little white mice, or let them eat food mixed with a small amount of detergent. Three months later, the trio found that sperm gathered from the mice was deformed to some degree. After another year studying the creature's output, they proved their hypothesis. Scientists awarded the students the First Prize at the 25th Beijing
Adolescent Competition of Science and Technology Innovation, the Jingbao
newspaper reports.
