KFC resumes sales of New Orleans chicken wings

Updated: 2005-03-24 08:40 KFC's Shanghai office has completed an
investigation into the carcinogenic food coloring Sudan 1 in some of its food
and has resumed sales of New Orleans roast chicken wings in China, the company
declared yesterday.
"The seasoning tainted with Sudan 1 has been appropriately dealt with and the
substitute is proved to contain no Sudan 1," the company said.
New Orleans roast chicken wings resumed sales in major Chinese cities
including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Other cities will resume
sales later for logistical reasons.
The other menu item banned by Yum, KFC's parent company, New Orleans chicken
burgers, was deleted from the menu, since it a newproduct in promotion,
according to the company.
"All KFC products have passed tests in state quarantine institutes and proved
to contain no Sudan 1," according to the company's Shanghai office.
Yum suspended sales of the two items in all Chinese KFC outletson March 16
after the two products' seasoning was found to have been tainted with Sudan 1.
