Wang Zhizhi likely to challenge Yao Ming

The Miami Heat placed forward Christian Laettner on the injured list with a right foot injury and activated center Wang Zhi-Zhi on Tuesday.

Laettner is having his second bout with plantar fasciitis — an inflammation along the arch of the foot. He spent nine games on the injured list earlier this season with the same ailment on his left foot.

In 44 games this season, Laettner is averaging 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.2 minutes.

Wang missed the last six games with an upper respiratory infection. He is averaging 2.2 points in 17 games with the Heat this season.
