Iverson, Nash named NBA Players of the Week
Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson and Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from Monday, February 7 to Sunday, February 13.
The 29-year-old Iverson, who leads the league in scoring at 29. 7 points per game, averaged a league-high 42.7 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals last week in games gainst the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic. Iverson capped his week in grand style on Saturday, as he torched the Magic for a career-high 60 points, going 24-of-27 from the free throw line. He also had six assists, five steals and four rebounds in that game, as he joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only Sixers in franchise history to notch 60 or more points in a regular season game. Nash averaged 26 points on 50-percent shooting this past week and helped the Suns to a 2-1 record. He also dished out a league- best 14.3 assists and four rebounds against the Sacramento Kings, Seattle SuperSonics and Golden State Warriors. In Tuesday's win over the Kings, Nash tallied a season-high 33 points, dished out 17 assists.
