(Shenzhen Daily)
Updated: 2005-02-02 17:07

Guangzhou organized the largest flower fair for the Chinese New Year in the city's history by setting up flower markets in each of its eight districts and two economic development zones.

The market displays cover a total area of 14,200 square meters with 4,528 booths, sources from the municipal government said.

Yuexiu District, where most of the foreign consulates are located, had printed a market tour map in both Chinese and English for the convenience of foreigners.

Toilets, clinics, exits and a complaints center were labeled in English.

The Yuexiu flower fair, which has a strong Linnan flavor, began in 1950.

This flower fair has been listed as one of the most popular destinations in Yuexiu's one-day tour.

As the Guangzhou flower fair became more influential, many exhibitors from other provinces including Shandong, Hanan, Zhejiang, Hunan and Hainan had become involved in the fair.
