Air China stewardesses try on their new cheong-sam uniform, specially designed for the nonstop cross-Straits flights during the Spring Festival in Beijing January 27, 2005. Chinese mainland jetliners are scheduled to begin touching down in airports on the Taiwan island on Saturday for the first time since 1949. Six airlines from Taiwan will also make the flights between the mainland cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Taiwan's two biggest cities, Taipei and Kaohsiung. [newsphoto]
