Houston's McGrady sued over dog attack
Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady is being sued by a man who had the tip of his nose bitten off by the player's Rottweiler last year.
The lawsuit, asking for unspecified damages, was filed Wednesday in Orange County Circuit Court.
"What we want is for a jury to decide what's fair, as far as paying Fred for what has had to come out of pocket, both in the past and in the future," Chamberlin's attorney, Eric Faddis, said Thursday. "He's definitely going to need more plastic surgery, and we've got to be sure he has the resources to pay."
McGrady employed Chamberlin as a home maintenance engineer at his 18,000-square-foot mansion. The two-time scoring champion played for Orlando for four years before being traded to the Rockets last summer.
McGrady, in Orlando on Thursday to play his former team, acknowledged his dog attacked Chamberlin and nearly bit his nose off.
"I feel terrible," McGrady said. "I didn't think he had it in him."
McGrady said his pet is a "very vicious dog," but that he is usually nice. He did not have the dog euthanized after the attack.
According to Faddis, Chamberlin was attacked on the second floor of the mansion after climbing a flight of stairs. When Max jumped him, Chamberlin fell backward down the 11 stairs.
"The dog was trained to attack on command, and Fred has no idea why it chose to attack him," Faddis said.
