Bryant, who has already missed two games, saw foot specialist Philip Kwong and team doctor Steve Lombardo on Monday, and he will be evaluated again early next week, the Los Angeles Times reported. A scan showed there was not a fracture.

"A lot of significant tenderness and pain," Lakers spokesman John Black told the Times. "He's making progress though."

Bryant sustained the sprain Thursday against Cleveland.

Meanwhile, Washington Wizards guard Larry Hughes will be out of action for at least a month with a broken right thumb.

Hughes, who leads the NBA in steals, injured the thumb against the Phoenix Suns Saturday.

Wizards president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said he expected Hughes would miss four to six weeks of play.
