Indian troops kill 5 Kashmiri rebels at border

Indian troops killed five separatists trying to enter Indian Kashmir from Pakistani territory on Tuesday, the first major infiltration bid this year, a defence official said.

The five were killed by border guards about 250 km north of Jammu, the winter capital of the disputed Himalayan region.

"The troops were alerted when sensors detected movement near the fence," the official said.
