Myskina races to victory over Peschke
French Open champion Anastasia Myskina needed just 58 minutes to book her place in the second round of the Australian Open on Tuesday, easing to a 6-1 6-4 victory over Czech Kvete Peschke.
The third-seeded Russian was not at her fluent best but proved too consistent for Peschke, who hit 33 unforced errors. Myskina, a quarter-finalist at Melbourne Park in each of the past two years, cruised through the first set in 20 minutes and broke Peschke's serve in the 10th game of the second set to clinch victory. The Russian now meets the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Emilie Loit and Tzipora Obziler of Israel.
