Tougher penalties to be imposed for corruption (Agencies) Updated: 2005-01-14 09:04 China's top anti-graft agency
has vowed to impose heavy penalties on corrupt officials in the latest attempt
to curb corruption.
The CPC Central Disciplinary Inspection Commission said the government and
Party officials would be fired if they were found accepting bribes, using their
power to help family members to run businesses or gambling, according to a
bulletin released after the meeting.
Officials who obtain promotions by bribing their superiors would be removed
from their positions, said the bulletin.
The bulletin also vowed to severely punish officials who accept expensive
gifts at weddings or funerals.
