Fan violence in Parma and Rome
Parma and Juventus fans were involved in violent clashes after Thursday's Serie A match with both sets of supporters coming on to the pitch after a 1-1 draw.
With most of the crowd having left the stadium, a group of Parma fans went on to the field of play through an open gate and began taunting the visiting Juve fans who broke out of their sector and began to fight, Italy's Sky Sport reported. Police were heavily outnumbered and struggled to restore order with television images showing one fan being kicked while on the ground. Other fans struck out with sticks. There was no immediate report of injuries or arrests. Later in Rome, police used tear gas during street clashes with fans leaving the derby match at the Olympic stadium in which Lazio beat Roma 3-1. Television helicopter pictures showed several hundred fans running away from the venue after police charged them using batons but the violence appeared to subside quickly.
