Andy Lau's ex-girlfriend to write kiss-and-tell book
A former girlfriend of Hong Kong film and music heart-throb Andy Lau is to publish a kiss-and-tell expose about their relationship, a press report said.
The Apple Daily said Taiwanese actress Yu Ho-yun will publish a memoir revealing her relationship 20 years ago with Lau. It will include more than 50 intimate pictures as well as love letters written to her by Lau, one of Asia's most popular stars, the report said.
News of the forthcoming memoir follow's Lau's receipt in Taiwan early this month of a Golden Horse Award, Asia's version of an Oscar.
Yu, 39, was the only woman Lau admitted as being his girlfriend. It was love at first sight for Lau and Yu whose relationship began in 1983 and ended after three years, the book will reveal.
Lau referred to Yu as "wife" only 13 days after they began dating.
The book also will claim that Lau, 43, gave up love in order to further his career. He late became known as one of the former British colony's four "Heavenly Kings" of Canto-pop, a hybrid of Chinese ballads and Western pop that fills the local charts.
Yu was quoted as saying "it's not such a big deal" to reveal a relationship between people who were in their early 20s.
"This is actually a trend in showbiz to publicly reveal relationships," she was quoted as saying.
Lau refused to comment on his old love, the paper said.
The memoir will be published at the same time on the Chinese mainland and Taiwan early next year, the daily said.
Along with his Canto-pop fame Lau is an award-winning actor who starred in some of Hong Kong's most critically acclaimed films, including "Infernal Affairs", "Running on Karma" and recently "A World Without Thieves".
He won the best male actor award at the Golden Horse awards for his role as a bent detective in "Infernal Affairs 3".
