Once Caldas ex-coach injured in firearm attack
The former coach of Colombian soccer club Once Caldas, Luis Montoya, received Wednesday two bullet wounds in the neck as a consequence of an assault, the authorities informed.
This occurred near his residence, in Caldas municipality of Antioquia department (northwest).
Montoya is hospitalized and receiving intensive-care attention at the city of Medellin, capital of Antioquia. Doctor Jorge Rojo, who first gave medical attention to Montoya, assured the coach is in critical conditions. "He arrived here with a cardiorespiratory arrest and two neck wounds by bullet, but we managed to resuscitate him," Rojo said. The Colombian Police Operative Director, general Alberto Ruiz, confirmed that the robbers have already been arrested and cleared out that the incident was not an attack on Montoya but a robbery. Once Caldas won Libertadores Cup with Montoya as a coach. The Colombian team also played this month the Inter-Continental Cup in Japan versus the European Champion, Portugal's Porto. |
