The world's top shuttler Lin Dan of China started the end-of-year grand prix in Indonesia with an easy win over non-seeded player Kay Bin Yeoh of Malaysia.

It took only 30 minutes for Lin Dan, who is seeded number one in the Indonesia Open, to beat Kay Bin 15-5, 15-6.

Lin said he is confident he can beat Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat, who is also the reigning champion in the tournament, if they meet in the semifinal stage.

Local hero Taufik also passed the first round successfully with a 15-2, 15-7 victory over compatriot Sigit Wahyudi.
