Inter claim first-leg advantage
Inter Milan battled back from a goal down to seal a comprehensive 3-1
win over Bologna in the first leg of their Coppa Italia second round tie on
Sunday. However, Christian Vieri levelled the scores a minute before the interval to give the San Siro faithful cause for optimism. Alvaro Recoba then fired Inter ahead after 79 minutes before Julio Cruz wrapped up the 3-1 result to secure a welcome victory for the home side. Elsewhere, a late penalty from Gianfranco Zola gave Cagliari a narrow 2-1 triumph over visiting Lazio. Antonio Langella opened the scoring for Cagliari in the 35th minute but Antonio Filippini cancelled out the strike after 61 minutes. Seven minutes before time, Lazio then conceded a penalty which Zola converted to give the hosts the victory. |
