A week after former Chinese soccer star Gao Feng took a DNA blood test, the result is that he is the father of a 3-year-old boy with Wang Nawen, a bar owner in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, who claimed to have had a relationship with Gao in 2000.

The news was confirmed by a man who claimed to be a relative of Wang in a telephone conversation with the Sina Web site.

The man told Sina that the testing center informed Wang of the result by phone Tuesday morning.

But neither Wang nor Gao was available for comment.

The DNA test was made at the request of Gao after Wang brought the case to court in September, asking for a child support payment of 670,000 yuan (US$81,000) from Gao. Gao first denied any relationship with the child, then later asked for the test.

If he is confirmed to be the father of the child, Gao said he would pay child support.

Gao is currently the open boyfriend of Chinese pop diva Na Ying. Na gave birth to a boy with Gao in mid-October.
