Police find 15 dead men on Bangladesh fishing boat

Police found on Thursday the bodies of 16 fishermen stuffed in the ice chamber of their boat where they were apparently left to die by pirates while their vessel drifted in the Bay of Bengal.

"The bodies have been retrieved from the ice chamber of F.B Kausara, which drifted to the shore early today," said a police officer at Cox's Bazar, 400 km (250 miles) southeast of the capital, Dhaka.

Police said they suspected pirates had locked the men in the ice chamber used for freezing fish and they had died of severe cold and suffocation.

Fish and fishing accessories had been stolen from the boat, which left four days ago from near Cox's Bazar to go fishing.
