Michael Owen bagged his third goal in a week for Real Madrid when he scored what turned out to be the winner at Leganes in the Copa Del Rey.

Strike partner Fernando Morientes gave an under-strength Real a first-half lead before Owen pounced to double the advantage three minutes after the interval.

The England forward, who played the full 90 minutes, prodded the ball in with his left foot after Morientes slid the ball across the box from the left.

Dani Ruiz pulled one back seven minutes later with a sublime free-kick but it was to no avail as the game finished 2-1 to Real.

Owen opened his account for Real in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev before also scoring the only goal of the match against Spanish champions Valencia at the weekend.

Deportivo La Coruna's Diego Tristan followed up his first goal of the season at the weekend by hitting the net on Tuesday night - with a double at Cerceda.

Tristan struck in the 22nd and 81st minutes as Depor ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.

Osasuna needed penalties to see off Castellon as their game finished 0-0.

The Primera Liga side ran out 4-2 winners in the shootout.
