CCTV to cancel "Entertaining Spectacle"

China's very first TV entertainment show, Entertaining Spectacle, will be cancelled after the National Day holiday after running for 14 years.

The CCTV show will be pulled because its ratings have plummeted in recent years.

TV Analysts say the show's demise can be attributed to a general drop in the quality of crosstalk and skits in China.

A new program focusing on interaction with the audience will replace Entertaining Spectacle, aiming to attract a younger generation of viewers.
