Man United Midfielder Roy Keane Charged (Agencies) Updated: 2004-09-22 09:31 Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was charged with assault and
criminal damage Tuesday over an alleged confrontation with a 16-year-old boy.
Manchester police said Keane got
into the confrontation with the teenager while walking his dog earlier this
month at an area golf course.
No details of the confrontation were available.
The Irish midfielder was ordered to appear before a judge
Thursday to answer the charges.
Keane, one of the first five picks on FIFA's list of the
greatest 100 living soccer players, is known for his temper. He missed the 2002
World Cup in Korea and Japan after an argument with coach Mick McCarthy over the
team's preparations and training facilities. He flew home, and Ireland played
without him.
