The Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the
organizer of the Hong Kong Optical Fair, has chosen Shanghai as the venue
for the fair's first preview party on the Chinese mainland.
The eyewear parade was divided into the three themes: denim, beachwear
and the executive look and the event really is a splendid party for
participants and spectators alike.
Models wearing a range of eyewear from 14 Hong Kong companies paraded
around the stylish venue, enchanting the audience with the latest fashion
statements in eyewear.
Hong Kong, as a showcase of internationally renowned fashion brands, is
where trend-followers focus their eyes today. A noteworthy fact is that
over 300 million people wear prescription glasses on the mainland.
The Hong Kong Optical Fair is one of the most influential shows in the
Asia Pacific region attracting more than 450 companies from across the
globe to participate in the event. As usual, the fair has won strong
support from international groups with nine pavilions - the Chinese mainland,
France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Germany and
Switzerland.
Representing Chinese mainland, the China
Optometric and Optical Association is one of the fair's
co-organizers and has provided great support for the fair.
Hong Kong exported a total of US$1.6 billion worth of optical goods
last year, up 20 per cent from the year before. Most Hong Kong optical
companies are engaged in the production on an OEM and/or ODM basis for
many renowned international brands, and many have started to develop their
own brands to sharpen their competitive edge.
