"Japanese Jordan" signs for Phoenix Suns
Japanese guard Yuta Tabuse has signed for the Phoenix Suns, and is hoping to become the first Asian guard to play in the NBA regular season. Dubbed the "Japanese Michael Jordan", Tabuse will join Suns' pre-season training camp for the start of the season on October 10. The 23-year-old, 1.75 meters tall guard played with Brigham Young University in Hawaii for three years before joining Japan's Super League in 2002. He quit the Japanese club last year, taking part in Phoenix's camp in July and playing in the summer games. Meanwhile, Chinese NBA center Yao Ming's teammate Liu Wei, will leave for the US to receive training with the Sacramento Kings. He is expected to be the first Chinese guard in the NBA. |
