An international agricultural forum will be held during the 8th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which is slated for September 8, in Xiamen, East China's Fujian Province.

It is the first time for CIFIT to hold special sessions for agricultural investment and cooperation, said Huang Ling, vice-mayor of Xiamen.

The forum is well received by overseas investment institutions and multinational enterprises, according to Huang. As the world's most populous nation, China is still in the preliminary stage in agricultural industry and technology. More and more overseas firms show strong interests in investing in the area.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture, China International Forum on Agriculture Investment & Fair for Recommended Projects centers on establishing a platform for international financing and cooperation for the nation's agriculture, introducing FDI and advanced technology, and providing an effective channel for international funds raising and cooperation for agricultural projects.

During the forum, officials with the related department of the Ministry of Agriculture and experts in agricultural technology will brief the participants on China's latest agricultural policy and the country's latest development in agricultural science and technology.

The forum aims to push forward the agricultural development of the world's most populous country.

Investment institutions and corporations from the U.S., Japan, Germany, UK, France, Canada and Australia have already applied to take part in the forum in the hopes of exploring co-operational opportunities.
