Galatasaray have marked their one and only appearance in the Champions World Series with a 2-1 victory over European champions Porto in New Jersey.

The Turkish team made a perfect start at the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford when Hakan Sukur put them in front after only three minutes.

Arif Erdem made sure of victory with Galatasaray's second in the 86th minute before Maniche scored a consolation goal for Porto in injury time.

It was Porto's second and final match in the series after a 1-0 win over Liverpool in Toronto last Friday.

The Champions World Series features 11 friendly matches at eight venues across the United States and Canada, involving club sides from England, Italy, Scotland, Portugal, Germany and Turkey.

The next match is on Monday when Chelsea take on AC Milan in Philadelphia.
