Woman dies after plastic surgery to boost the size (Shenzhen Daily) Updated: 2004-08-02 09:57 A woman who went for a check-up after a plastic
surgery, which had apparently gone wrong, died on the operating table at a
clinic in Northeast China, the Yangcheng Evening News reported Sunday.

[Xinhua] | The manager of the Shenyang Meishen
Cosmetic Surgery hospital in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, called
police Friday, reporting the death of the woman.
The woman, 36, surnamed Xu, underwent breast augmentation surgery about a
month ago, but after the operation she found her breasts were not symmetrical
and lumps had developed in them, her cousin Xu Jin was quoted saying.
 Local police has
blocked the hospital for further investigation over Xu's death.
[Xinhua] | Xu went back to the hospital for a
check-up Friday, but died of an as yet unknown cause.
According to the woman's relatives, a forensic pathologist had examined her
body.
An employee of the hospital said the hospital and the surgeons were licensed
to perform the plastic surgery.
Police have so far declined to comment.
A sign outside the hospital reads that it was approved in 1998 by the
Shenyang city health department.
