China to be hosts for 16th Asian Games

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will hold its general assembly in Doha on July 1st to announce China as the hosting country for the 16th Asian Games.

Besides, the Doha meeting will also unveil China's intend to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2007.

During their meeting, OCA will also discuss Thailand's hosting for the first closed-hall games as well as a presentation for the latest preparation for Asian Games in Doha 2006.

The agenda also includes discussion about Qatar's organization for the third West Asian Games in the end of 2005, a test for the Asian games in Doha 2006.

According to Qatar News Agency, about 400 members from 45 Asian countries and regions, including Iraq and Afghanistan, will participate in the meeting.

The general assembly meetings will also be attended by delegations from New York, London, Paris, Madrid and Russia, who are bidding to host the Olympic Games 2012.
