Commercial housing prices rise 10.7%

The average price of China's commercial housing in the January-May period stood at 2,708 yuan (US$326) per square meter, up 10.7 percent year-on-year, according to latest figures from the National Statistics Bureau.

During the first five months this year, a total of 83.1 million square meters of commercial housing were sold, 78.4 million of which was sold to individuals, up 32 percent year on year, figures show.

During the period, the price level for commercial residences grew 8.3 percent, for office-use housing 22.5 percent, and for other commercial-use housing 12.8 percent.

In Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong where the commercial housing is the most expensive in the country, the average price for each square meter was 5,381 yuan, 5,156 yuan and 3,877 yuan respectively, according to figures.
