Local government sent policemen, doctors and officials from the traffic and health departments to the spot immediately. Kuandian Manchu Autonomous Conuty also sent five ambulances and rescued nine wounded passengers. By the end of the day, all of them received in time treatment.

Police inspector Yu Wei, one of the earliest arrivals, said that all passengers on the car were from Kuandian. The youngest injured person was 11 years old. The bus driver died in the accident.

A task force has been established to investigate into the cause of the accident and to deal with the aftermath of the accident.

Residents nearby said that accidents happen in that section of highway every two or three days, because there are a lot of steep slopes and dangerous curves while there is no warning sign on the road.
