UEFA, seeking to capitalise on the appeal that European football already has in Asia, have launched uefa.com in China with a Chinese partner.

This will now enable Chinese subscribers to see highlights of matches on the Internet and mobile phones. Although only 120 million of the billion-plus people in the world's most populous country have access to the Internet, this still makes it the second biggest Internet market in the world after the United States.

Since the Chinese website was launched the traffic has increased by 15 per cent. For Euro 2004, subscribers will see highlights of the matches within 10 minutes of the end of each game.
