Soccer superstars AC Milan have triumphed in their native Italy and conquered Europe. Now they take on China's biggest city, Shanghai, hoping to turn at least some of the Middle Kingdom's 20 million people into fans.

The Italian league champions flew into Shanghai on Monday to face China's local club Shenhua, last season's Chinese league winners. The teams go head to head on Wednesday.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti said "this game is a great chance for both the fans and the teams."

AC Milan suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hong Kong's Kitchee Club on Sunday night.

Famous for their distinctive red and black jerseys and a history of success, the team owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is just the latest big-name European club to play a promotional tour in the soccer-crazy nation.

Spanish superstars Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team came out to China last year.
