Shenyang beat Qingdao to top China Premier League
Shenyang scored a lone goal over Qingdao to remain unbeaten and temporarily top the Chinese Premier League after soccer matches on Saturday. After a scoreless draw with Shenzhen in the opening round, Shenyang celebrated their first goal in the premier league when Nigerian international Gbenga Samuel Okunowo scored his header in the 20th minute. Shenyang, with the majority of young players, resorted to their defensive tactics but managed to guard for their advantage throughout the second half as Qingdao failed to convert any of their scoring chances for the away defeat 1-0. In another match of the day, Shanghai International tied Beijing Hyundai 1-1 for their second straight draw respectively in the first two rounds of matches, and with controversial calls certainly. After a scoreless first half full of body conflicts, Shanghai opened the scoring sheet in the 51st minute through Wang Bin, but their enthusiasm were dampened seven minutes later when referee Wang Xueqing awarded a penalty to the visitors. A shot from Beijing was saved by Shanghai goalkeeper Jiang Jin, but referee Wang ruled it a hand ball against Shanghai player Wu Chengying, a clear mishap justified by video, leading to the equaliser by Christian and negligence of a series of foul actions by the hosts in the remaining minutes. |
