Indiana Pacers guard Fred Jones expects to play in Game 6 against Miami on Tuesday after missing the fifth game with an injured left shoulder.

Jones said he could have played in Saturday's Game 5 win in Indiana, but the Pacers cruised in the second half, affording coach Rick Carlisle the luxury to sit him.

"It will help him," Carlisle said of the night off. "The more time we can buy him, the better he'll feel."

Jones left Sunday's film session with an ice bag on the shoulder and said it's still causing him some pain.

"I don't know all the doctor's terms, but something's not right in there," Jones said. "The doctors are pretty happy with my progress."

Even without Jones, one of their best perimeter shooters and defenders, the Pacers beat Miami 94-83 to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals.

Carlisle said Jones is available for Game 6.

"We'll see how it goes, whether we need him," Carlisle said. "If we do, I won't hesitate to use him."
