Macao to reduce power charges by 3%

Macao Electricity Co Ltd (CEM) will reduce the electric power charges by 3 percent in June, according to Jose Vaz Marcelino, Chairman of the Executive Committee of CEM Saturday.

Marcelino made the remarks at a ceremony for celebrating 100 years of electricity in Macao, adding that since the year of 2000, his company has reduced the power charges by ten percent.

Meanwhile, CEM has implemented a lot of plans on supporting for social and economic activities, according to Marcelino.

It was reported that the power charges in Macao have been reduced by 4.3 and 3.2 percent, respectively for business and household users, in the year of 2000, and then were cut by 2.5 percent in 2001.

In commemoration of its 100 years of operation in Macao, CEM is staging an exhibition of old and advanced power supply facilities at the Macao Tower.
