Man arrested over 6 sex murders
A man has confessed to raping and killing six young women in central China's Henan Province, the Xinxiang public security bureau said Monday. The bureau said their investigation began in January when an unknown woman's body was found in Huojia County of Xinxiang City. Police connected the case with another murder last November. In April, another woman was found raped and killed in Huojia County. Police launched a major investigation around the province with Xinxiang and Zhengzhou cities as the main areas of inquiry. Police found the woman surnamed Wen, who was killed in January, had been the victim of extortion by several people. Among them was a man named Wang Huaiyi. Wang was arrested on April 24. Police say tests showed that Wang's DNA was identical with that in semen found in Wen's body. Under interrogation, Wang confessed to raping, robbing and killing six young women in Zhengzhou City since 2000 and dumping the bodies in Xinxiang City, police said. Wang, 36, had been re-educated through labor for one year for possession of stolen goods in 1986. He was jailed for five years in 1990 for robbery. After he was released on parole in 1994, Wang had made a living by various means, including begging, collecting rubbish, selling books and managing a hairdressing shop, police said. |
