Liu Ye heats up new TV series (cctv.com) Updated: 2004-05-10 11:43 The young actor Liu Ye once
wowed the Tokyo international film festival with his melancholy adolescent look
in "Postmen in the Mountains." For his challenging role in the new TV series,
"Life of Romance," he's got a new image. He puts his looks on the line and shows
viewers what's inside the character.
Leading actor Liu Ye was in the spotlight for the press preview of "Life of
Romance." Regarded as one of the most talented actors in China, he's best known
for his roles in the "Postmen in the Mountains" and "Sky Lovers", which won him
the award for artistic contribution at the 2002 Tokyo International Film
Festival.
In "Life of Romance", Liu Ye portrays the hero from the character's
adolescence days all the way up to his middle age. The demands on his acting
skills are great.
Offscreen, Liu Ye has other talents. One is his culinary skill with Jianbing
Guozi, a traditional Chinese snack. It's a crispy pancake encased in a crepe.
His other talent is singing Shaanxi folk songs, known for their high-pitched
wildness. Liu Ye considers this the greater challenge, given his extremely quiet
personality
