A Kodak photo shop has been inaugurated in Shaoshan of Central China's Hunan Province, birthplace of late Chinese chairman Mao Zedong.

The photo shop was Eastman Kodak Company's 9,000th exclusive dealership in China.

Zhang Liqiao, aged 30 and owner of the shop, said that for the time being, his shop would only do conventional film development and color photo printing.

Zhang was upbeat about the prospects of his shop as plenty of people visit Shaoshan each year.

Daniel A. Carp, chief executive officer of Eastman Kodak Company, made a special trip to this central Chinese province and cut the ribbon marking the operation of the new service outlet Wednesday. Kodak company also donated 3,000 cameras to the local villagers.

Karen A. Smith Pilington, chairman and president for Greater Asian Region of East Kodak Company, said they would concentrate on expanding the market in China's rural and western regions in the near future.
