Pop diva Faye Wong performs tonight in Kuala Lumpur
She came fresh from her successful sold-out concerts in Hong Kong. Malaysia is the second stop on her tour and on Sunday she will begin a series of shows in China. Her concert at the Putra Indoor Stadium in Bukit Jalil in 1999 saw the addition of a second show due to the overwhelming response. This time around, organiser Galaxy Production had to increase the number of seats due to the fantastic reception from the public. Her performance tonight will not include the song To Love, the opening track on her latest album, It's My Style. Last month, the Culture, Arts and Tourism Ministry asked Wong not to perform the song. This followed a similar move made by the Chinese government last November after the album was released. The Xinhua News Agency reported the song was banned because the lyrics "opium is warm and sweet" was deemed "too decadent and will influence the health of young people." |
