Liao Hui -- Vice-chairman of 10th National Committee The following is the biographical sketch of Liao Hui, who was just elected vice-chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC): Liao Hui, male, born in 1942, of Han nationality, native of Huiyang, Guangdong Province. Joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1965, with a university education. Graduated from Missile Engineering Department of Harbin Military Engineering Institute in 1965; PLA (People's Liberation Army) Air Force technician in 1965-1972; Air Force representative in charge of military product quality inspection in state-owned No.761 Factory in 1972-1975; staff officer of Air Force Headquarters of PLA Beijing Military Area Command in 1975-1980; staff officer of Equipment Department of PLA General Staff in 1980-1983. Deputy director, member and deputy secretary of Leading Party Members' Group, and first deputy director of State Council's Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs in 1983-1984; director and secretary of Leading Party Members' Group of State Council's Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs in 1984-1997. Director of State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group since 1997. Member of 12th to 16th CPC Central Committee. |
